All about me/Spanish (without audio) unit of 6 lessons

Year groups- Year 3 or beginners

This 6 lesson unit is designed for children new to the Spanish language. The unit helps children introduce themselves by learning greetings, saying their name, age and favourite colour and finishing by writing a letter to a penfriend.

 

 

Lesson 1 – Greetings (without audio) 

In this lesson children learn about some of the countries which speak Spanish and some basic greetings. They complete a very simple listening activity and practise writing the new vocabulary.

The lesson includes a PowerPoint (with listening activity), a lesson plan and a sheet to complete independent work.

Lesson 2-How are you? (Without audio) 

In this children will learn to respond question how are you in Spanish. I will explore a number of responses and put the vocabulary learnt in last 2 sessions into a conversation.

Lesson contains starter activity, PowerPoint, lesson plan and writing exercise.

Lesson 3- My name is (without audio)

In this lesson the children learn 2 different ways to say their name in Spanish. They also listen and join in with a chant and finally play a fun game to reinforce all the vocabulary learnt.

Curriculum objective MFL– explore the patterns and sounds of language through songs and rhymes and link the spelling, sound and meaning of words

Lesson 4- Numbers and age (without audio) 

In this lesson children learn the numbers from 1-12 and how to ask and answer the question, ‘How old are you?’ in Spanish. The order numbers in Spanish and practise writing the numbers.

Lesson 5- Colours (without audio) 

In this lesson children are introduced to the colours in Spanish in order to say what their favourite colour is. They are asked to draw a picture labelling with Spanish colours.

Lesson 6- Write a letter to a penfriend (without audio) 

In this lesson children recap all learnt in this unit. They use all their knowledge to write a letter about them to a penfriend using a writing model.
